On Earth Day (April 22, 2023), young leaders came together to learn how to write letters to elected officials about the kind of environmental leadership they'd like to see.

A collaboration between GreenPAC and Youth Climate Lab, the workshop was free and open to all! Participants had the opportunity to acquire critical tools and skills to engage in environmental advocacy through letter-writing at the individual AND collective level.

The workshop began with a keynote speech from Jonathan Pedneault (Deputy Leader of the Green Party).

This was followed by an intro to letter-writing as an effective tool for advocacy by Soomin Han (Programs Lead, Youth Climate Lab) and a group brainstorming session, where participants engaged in a discussion about their concerns and ideas on how to strengthen environmental leadership in politics.

GreenPAC and YCL facilitators provided participants with guidance on how to structure and articulate these ideas in a clear and impactful way during the writing process. The workshop resulted in participants crafting ready-to-send individual letter to their MPs.

This workshop was the first of a series of events for this year’s Future Leaders in Politics (FLIP) 3.0.

Great to see young people getting involved in environmental advocacy like this! Writing letters to MPs is a strong step. It’s like how custom military caps show unity and purpose these letters show young voices standing together for change.

It’s inspiring to see young leaders take action and use their voices to push for better environmental policies. Workshops like this really show how small steps—like writing a letter—can lead to meaningful change. Just like strong messages need the right platform, well-designed items like affordable custom 3D lapel pins can help bring attention to a cause or campaign. It’s all about finding creative ways to make an impact and be seen.

What an inspiring way to celebrate Earth Day! It's amazing to see young people taking action and learning how to make their voices heard. Workshops like this truly help build the next generation of changemakers. Just like well-written letters can influence leaders, even simple items like the best PVC keychain can help spread a message when made with care and purpose. It’s all about using every tool we have—big or small—to stand up for what matters.
