Jonathan Wilkinson (Liberal, North Vancouver) has worked on critical environmental and resource management issues since his election to Parliament in 2015. Prior to this, Wilkinson worked for over 15 years as a senior executive in the clean technology sector, focusing primarily on greenhouse gas emissions and water quality. In his role as an MP, he led governmental work on species at risk, clean technology, and water regulations as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Environment and Climate Change. He then served as Minister for Fisheries and Oceans, enhancing conservation approaches and accelerating marine protection standards. Since 2019, he has served as Minister of Environment and Climate Change, and led the development of Canada’s Strengthened Climate Plan and Canadian Net-Zero Accountability Act. He secured historic funding for Nature, which includes expanded funds for Indigenous protected and Conserved areas and Guardians programming.
