7 Ways to Make a Difference: GreenPAC Announces Endorsements for Ontario Election

The Ontario election is just two months away. And today, with the release of our seven endorsements in the provincial campaign, GreenPAC is offering seven ways for you to make a difference in one of the most consequential elections in recent Canadian history.

We’ve endorsed four sitting MPPs and three newcomers across all four major parties—three Liberals, one Progressive Conservative, two New Democrats, and one Green.

Each of our endorsees has an outstanding record of environmental and wider community leadership.

They’ve all shown an ability to work across partisan lines and builder bigger, wider coalitions to get things done.

Now it’s up to you help get them elected.

Fill out our Candidate Matching Tool to identify the endorsed candidate who best aligns with your own environmental values and priorities, then encourage your friends and family, neighbours and colleagues to do the same.

We’re incredibly proud to introduce our list of  endorsed candidates for the 2018 Ontario election:

  • Jessica Bell (NDP, University-Rosedale) is founding executive director of transit advocacy organization TTCRiders. She previously worked as an organizer on sustainable, healthy food systems, and on Indigenous rights and endangered forests.
  • Shelley Carroll (L, Don Valley North) has been a Toronto city councillor since 2003. She oversaw development of a new solid waste diversion plan for the city, and promoted conservation and renewable energy during her four years on the Toronto Hydro board.
  • Nathalie Des Rosiers (L, Ottawa-Vanier) is a sitting MPP who previously spent 13 years on the Environmental Appeal Board of Ontario. She served as Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Energy before entering Cabinet in January as Minister of Natural Resources and Forestry.
  • Sylvia Jones (PC, Dufferin-Caledon) is a sitting MPP and avid supporter of land conservation, recycling, and organic foods. She’s been a member of a Community Supported Agriculture farm for eight years.
  • Arthur Potts (L, Beaches-East York), is a sitting MPP and a strong proponent of carbon cap-and-trade and pollinator protection. He amassed a 30-year track record in clean energy and waste reduction before he entered the provincial legislature.
  • Mike Schreiner (G, Guelph) is leader of the Green Party of Ontario. He’s worked as a tireless advocate on carbon pricing, hydraulic fracturing (fracking), neonicotinoid pesticides, water protection, and organic foods.
  • Peter Tabuns (NDP, Toronto-Danforth) is a sitting MPP and his party’s environment and energy critic. He’s introduced provincial legislation on climate change, community disclosure of toxins and pollutants, electricity conservation, and prohibition of hydraulic fracturing, and supported government bills to phase out coal, conserve water, protect the Great Lakes, and promote the province’s trail network.
