Peter Schiefke (Liberal, Vaudreuil—Soulanges) has been an environmental advocate for more than 20 years. Schiefke co-founded Youth Action Montreal, an organization dedicated to sparking climate action amongst university students in Montreal. He subsequently served for five years as the National Director of Climate Reality Canada, where he advocated for climate action and education across Canada. As an MP, Schiefke has worked to protect nature in his own community of Vaudreuil-Soulanges and improve and expand public transportation. In 2019 he was appointed Parliamentary Secretary for Environment and Climate Change, where he helped to: implement a ban on single-use plastics, reform the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, secure the largest Federal contribution in history for nature protection, and lead the stakeholder and cross-party consultations for Net-Zero legislation that was adopted with bipartisan support, and became law in 2021. Schiefke holds a Masters in environmental sciences from McGill University.
