Lori Idlout (NDP, Nunavut) is a lawyer currently working as the legal counsel for the Nuluujaat Land Guardians, advocating against the Baffinland Iron Mines Mary River Project and the Phase 2 proposal to expand the project. She served as technical advisor for the Ikajutit Hunters and Trappers Organization of Arctic Bay, raising understanding of the risks of offshore oil and gas expansion on the marine ecosystem and local food security. As an Inuk woman, Idlout has also advocated to address the health and well-being of Indigenous communities, including by co-founding the Embrace Life Council in Nunavut, an organization to improve mental health, and the Coalition of Nunavut District Education Authorities.
