Leah Gazan

NDP • MB • Winnipeg Centre
Leah Gazan (NDP, Winnipeg Centre) is an educator by trade and has a long history in the climate justice movement. She has fought for the recognition of the right to a safe, clean, healthy environment as a human right and has been mobilizing people across Canada around the adoption and implementation of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. In the last session of Parliament, Gazan introduced The Climate Emergency Action Act, a private member's bill to enshrine the legal right to a healthy environment in Canada. She was featured in Maclean's 2021 Power List. Gazan is a member of the Wood Mountain Lakota Nation, Treaty 4 Territory, Saskatchewan.
